Alternative power for automobiles

Automobiles today are powered by oil. Oil in the form of gasoline, petrol and diesel is used to run automobiles. The use of oil causes pollution and emits harmful substances into the atmosphere. The increase in the number of vehicles across the world has also increased our dependence on oil which being a finite source, will finish one day. We, therefore, need to find some other means of energy to run automobiles.

One solution to this problem is using electric vehicles. Electric vehicles do not cause pollution but the batteries on which the vehicles run needs to be recharged very often. To overcome this problem, hybrid vehicles were introduced. These vehicles were like electric vehicles but they did not have to be plugged in for recharging. Since then, the idea of using alternative power to run vehicles started to take shape.

Alternative power has been used to develop fuel cell vehicles. These vehicles are powered by a certain amount of hydropower. These vehicles will not produce any harmful pollutants that will adversely affect the environment. The waste product generated from their use will be water instead of carbon dioxide.

The use of alternative power for automobiles will reduce the dependence on oil. This will result in preserving the oil reserves that the world is left with. The use of alternative power will also help in the judicious use of oil.

The use of alternative power to run automobiles is expected to increase to maintain a clean environment. With the increasing oil prices, alternative power will also offer a cost effective method of running automobiles.
